More than likely it needs a new O2 sensor. Take it to a mechanic or auto parts store to make sure it is the o2 sensor because the sensor can be expensive. Then replace the sensor and make sure you keep up on maintenance and tune-ups in the future. An out of tune car causes premature sensor failure.

There probably has to be something wrong with your engine. If this light is on and your vehicle is not moving then you have something wrong with your engine. You will have to probably take your vehicle to a professional auto body mechanic to have it checked out and fixed.

Either there is a problem with your ignition or the computer is keeping you from starting the engine in order to save the engine. Have the codes scanned.

Check engine. Oil and fluids may be insufficient. Also check hydraulic fluid. How? Use dip sticks. Engine checks out? Check all tires. Tires check out? Proceed to check brakes. Release park brake. Check shift handle. It might be on 'P' position. Shift to 'D' position. If no go yet, call a mechanic. Most of all refer to owner's manual.
