My DSM engine makes a tick noise, can you help me diagnose the problem?

There are a lot of reasons this noise could be happening, I recommend you take your car to a mechanic.

If you have this ticking while the vehicle is running, it could be your cam shafts or a belt driven core. Consult a tear down rebulited manuel or online sreach. There is a lot of steps invovled in sovling and locating your ticking nosie. Also speical tools are required and can be found at your locate auto parts store.

More than likely this is either noisy lifters or the fuel injectors. Both have been know to cause a ticking sound.

a tick is usaully valvetrian related best place to start would be to remove the valve cover then check (with a feeler gauge) the valve lash clearence and make sure they are to spec
