My dog has an infected hair follicle. What the treatment?

Generally infected hair follicles are treated with oral medication prescribed by a vet. In addition to that, make sure that the area around the hair follicle remains clean doesn't get any more infected.

I am not entirely sure that dogs can get infected hair follicles. If they do, then you would treat it the same as with a human and remove the hair.

This infection is caused by ringworms which is fungus. Treatment will depend upon the severity of the infection and various other elements. Some of the possible treatments are,Lime sulphur dip,shaving off dog's hair,griseofulvin,topical anti-fungal medication,baths using anti-fungal shampoo.
