My Buick park avenue fuel gauge is stuck below E, why is that?

How can I get my fuel gauge unstuck.

The gauge itself is probably fine. That is caused by the sending unit (the device that hangs in your fuel tank and measures the fuel) going bad or the float falling off. It is a lever type device with a float on the end of it that goes up and down with the fuel level. It breaks, you show E

If the needle is actually BELOW the empty stop pin, it might be like mine. It traveled passed Full & then around. I drilled a small hole in the cover, inserted a piece of wire, rotated it down and around until it caught up with itself.

Your gage maybe broken, check to see if you have steady current to gage. If gage turns out to be fine your float maybe stuck in your fuel tank giving you no reading. Drop tank and check fuel pump/float housing to see if defective.

Fuel gauges work on current passing through the gauge. A solution to your problem would be to pass a low level current in the reverse.

The float sensor in the tank is possibly stuck. Or the relay from the tank to the gauge is bad.

The buick park avenue is a suprisingly well engineered car so i am very suprised by this question by the problem might be the fast the plastic had melted and become stuck.

Sometimes vehicles malfunction. You can try getting to the gauge and moving it from that point and check to see if that helps

It is more than likely that the fuel sending unit is broken. That or the gauge itself has been damaged somehow.
