Yes, there is 9K gold. I'ts a European mark. 24K is solid gold. 24K is too soft for jewelry so it's alloyed (blended) with other metals to improve the strength. 18K gold is therefore 75% gold. 9K gold would be 37.5% gold. Better is relative to the intended use.

Yes, there is such a thing. 18k gold is superior when it comes to rings, but it is far more expensive. 9ct gold comes in yellow, white, and rose gold, and the metal is only slightly more difficult to bend than 18ct. It will still make a beautiful wedding or engagement ring, though.
