Is there some kind of service where I can ask a car mechanic some questions?

You can go to some websites and type in your questions to something called carDoc. However, you may want to talk to someone in person. I suggest you go to your local Pep Boys or Percision tube and ask your questions there. I found them very helpful in the past.

Well if you find a nice mechanic that is willing to talk and/ or have had business with he/she than anywhere, but other than that it would be considered asking a stockbroker how he does it.

Yes in fact if you call autoparts they can often times answer a whole lot of questions about auto repair. Most of the people that work for that company are often car mechanics them selves.
