The process of memorizing Bible verses is much like the process of memorizing any thing else. The key is repetition. Make a song out of the verse or simply pray together reciting the verse daily until it is memorized and then moving on to another verse. Practice makes perfect!

There are some great audio CDs that set verses to music, like "Sing the Word A-Z" if you are just wanting him to grasp some general bible knowledge. For specific verses, try music, or hand motions. It's also helpful to have the verse in an easily understood translation.

Take the pressure off. The bible is about faith not memorization. Then, have him engage with the text through writing it out, saying it aloud, or singing verses.
