Is there a special tool to remove a popcorn ceiling?

To remove a popcorn ceiling you need something to soften it and something to scrape off the surface. Use vinegar and water and then a wallpaper scraper to remove it.

Depending on what the popcorn ceiling is made of, you can find different tools in hardware stores. If you want to do it yourself you can use a paint remover and a bit of elbow grease.

There are two types of tools that can be used for this purpose. An 8 or 10 inch taping knife can be used to scrape the ceiling once it has been softened by being soaked in water. A common sander can also be used to dry sand the popcorn.

I have not found any special tool to do this. I ususally spray the ceiling using a spray bottle with warm water, then use a putty knife to scrap the popcorn off. I have also used very light sand paper, but that sometimes takes longer than I want.
