The best saw for cutting crown molding is a miter saw. This will give you clean, even angle cuts for a more seamless look. Depending on the size and type of the crown molding you may want a compound miter saw which not only provides up and down cuts, but also a smooth back and forth slide action.

A portable miter saw table may be best. It allows you to cut on the diagonal and to canter the saw blade as necessary. Alternatively, you can use a simple box saw and a miter box into which you clamp the molding.
