There is a silicon atom. Silicon is number 14 on the periodic table and has a molecular weight 28. You can have silicon compounds made of just silicon as well. Often you hear of silicon based life forms in science fiction movies as silicon is the element below carbon on the periodic table.

Silicon is a chemical element with the symbol Si and the atomic number 14. Like everything else that appears on the periodic table, there are atoms of it. It's also the most common of the metalloids, and believed to be the eighth most common element overall by mass. It's also used in many compounds.
