Airman have until November 2011 to get the new ABUs (Airman Battle Uniform), which came out in 2008 after the initial introduction at Lackland. Airman can continue to wear their BDUs (Battle Dress Uniform) that they were for work and combat duty until November 2011.

The USAF isn't getting new uniforms. Airman wear BDUs (Battle Dress Uniform, camo) for work and combat. The new ABU (Airman Battle Uniform) became available to the USAF June 2008. BDUs may be worn until 1 November 2011 when only ABUs will be considered the regulation uniform.

The USAF has been transitioning into new uniforms over the past few years. They are light green, grey, tan, and blue tiger stripe ABUs. They started with tan boots, by the end of 2011 all USAF members will be required to wear the ABUs with green combat boots.

The USAF will be receiving new uniforms, as the "tiger" BDUs they had recently released encountered more problems than anticipated. However, exact rollout dates or designs for these new uniforms have not been released. Currently, the USAF is collecting data from its airmen for feedback concerning old and new uniforms. Already, an "informal" dress uniform has been released.
