If I would have to do it all over again, I would join the coast guard. The opportunities in the coast guard seem to be more focused than the other services. They have a multiple of electronic and computer jobs available all over the world. If police work is more your taste, there is many opportunities.

if thats what you feel called to do. I started out with three years as an Army Ranger Medic and then transffered to a Navy Seal Team but after i read about rescue swimming and the Coast Guard i wish i had re-enlisted to try that

The Coast Guard is not there to go to 'war'. The job is completely different than the Navy. Coast Guard is homeland security and environmental protection along with port security. I am telling you from having been in the army and now in the coast guard.

Any branch of the service is worth enlisting. Job security and benefits make it a desired job as they are part of Home land security and locations are much better then in any other service.

If you go into the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines, you are stuck with your MOS. If you are in the Coast Guard, you can go to ANY A school that has a slot open. You gotta give some time, but at least you aren't stuck doing something.

Of course. The Coast Guard serves a very important part in our nation's security. Without them I think our Navy could become stretched a little thin and they wouldn't be doing the job they were trained for.

While the Coast Guard is probably the least well known of our uniformed services, they are no less important than the others. They play vital roles in security and anti-terror missions, anti-drug missions ,along with search and rescue missions. Well worth enlisting in,in my opinion.
