Yes, there is standard advise to rinse with Salt water. I'm fairly sure that rinsing with saline will help your piercing heal and not have an infection if you are prone to infection. I'm told that alcohol isn't as good as it could potentially make your body reject the ear piercing.

Saline is an inexpensive but effective aid for healing and soothing pierced ears. It can also be used in place of sea salt soaks.

Saline won't have a negative effect on an ear piercing. Your blood is composed of part saline. Saline alone won't clean your piercing, though - it doesn't have antibacterial properties - use peroxide or rubbing alcohol.
