Question by  benmarvin (19)

Is organic chicken safe?

For some reason I don't trust organic stuff because there is not as much regulation.

Organic chicken is just as safe as non-organic chicken. Regardless of being organic or not, all chicken has to meet the same safety and health standards set by the government. While there is little to no regulation and standardization over the use of the word "organic" that does not mean the chicken itself is not regulated.

If you can go organic DO IT. Organic chicken is basically a chicken that hasn't been treated like dirt. These are cage free vegetarian fed chickens so there is less of a risk for diseases. Non-organic chicken is poorly fed mistreated chicken handled by people from other states. Go organic!

Actually, organic chicken is probably more safe. Less chemical and have gone into the feed and the processing. Grocery store birds have the same regulation organic or not.

In general, organic chicken is a safe product that is monitored by the government. What is not monitored is the word "organic," anyone can simply stick this on their product, so be sure you are getting what you pay for and not simply more expensive versions of happy meat products.
