Mahogany is a hardwood. Hardwoods are woods that come from leefed trees like maple, oak, ash, walnut, and of course mahogany.

Mahogany is considered a hard wood. The difference between softwoods and hardwoods is the leaves. If a tree looses its leaves in the winter it is considered a hard wood. A mahogany tree is in the grouping of trees that looses its leaves in the winter making it a hardwood.
