No. This day and age there is no reason to get a global telephone service. Have you checked into your cell phone plan? Almost all cell phone plans can add a global service for going out of the country for cheaper than you would think. It's easier to add on to your current service.

If someone's relatives are living in different countries or the person have good number of business contacts abroad he should go for it.

With the VOIP (Voice over IP) technology that is readily available and free, it is not worth getting any sort of service at a monthly rate. There are many great and free options such as Skype and Google talk.

It depends on your needs. Personally I would have no need for it, however, one of my clients travels overseas and it would be worth getting for him.

Yes, it is worth, because lowest cost for residential and business calls to anywhere. High quality, fiber optic lines networks and direct dial for any country.
