Expired medications are not generally dangerous, it is just that their potency decreases with time. If the Ambien was originally your prescription, is not more than three years expired and you take it in the recommended dose, you should be fine.
The expiration date on most medicine just means that it is best before that date. After it usualy is just not as potent. If just alittle past usualy is fine.
Most medications are not dangerous when they expire; they are simply less effective. It is not recommended that you take expired medication but it will probably not hurt you. Ask your doctor to be sure, or ideally you could get a new prescription.
If the medicines are expired then the medicines should not be used and should be thrown away. Consult your physician and get new medicines as soon as possible. Expired medicines does not
have effect on your body. Sometimes if these medicines are taken it can lead to irritation of
the bowel.
