Is it safe to keep goldfish in a small jar?

No, it is not safe. Goldfish can get quite large, and they need at least a twenty gallon tank to be happy and healthy. No fish should be kept in a jar, anyway. Fish would not have enough room to swim around, and water conditions would be terrible. They would not live very long in that environment.

I'm not sure what you mean by "safe," but as for its well-being, no. Goldfish, like every other fish, enjoy ample space to swim in.

An experienced fish-keeper can keep a goldfish in a jar for a few months but the goldfish will eventually outgrow the jar. Goldfish can reach over 12 inches long and will eventually require a large fish pond. Feed your fish daily, change the water daily, always use a dechlorinating product.
