Is it safe to but a treadmill that is for sale at a garage sale?

As long as the treadmill functions properly, this shouldn't be an issue. Most treadmills that wind up at garage sales were bought by someone that had every intention of using it, but they never actually got around to it. Just make sure that you try it out before you buy it.

If you mean test one out at a garage sale, I'd ask the seller if it was okay. Treadmills are often large investments but the great thing is they don't usually get used much. Chances are just plug it in and it'll be great.

As long as the treadmill is solid, than it won't pose a physical harm to yourself, but try and make sure it's in good working order before you bring it home.

Safe in the sense that you won't get hurt, than yes. But the fact that it might break down, probably not safe.
