A good tattoo artist can work wonders with a bad tattoo. It is possible to get the color redone to look like brand new, or totally reconstruct the tattoo all together. Just keep in mind that tattoo work can be quite expensive, so it would be a good idea to check some prices first.

It depends. Obviously, the current color cannot be erased. It is sometimes possible, however, to change the current color. This will almost always involve making it into a darker color. Furthermore, it is difficult to do properly and a blotchy appearance is possible. You need to find a very skilled artist to even attempt this.

It is possible to go darker with colors on a tattoo but not lighter. You can redo blacks and blues but if the color is already dark the only thing you can do is sharpen the darker color. It is not possible to go lighter on a tattoo.

You can correct errors in tattoos to an extent. It is easier to do so if the colors used originally are light.
