It is possible to break any bone in your heel. The most common cause is the heel striking a hard surface, such as a metal edge or hard step. This can also happen if something falls on the back of your foot. If you think it is broken, get an X-ray taken.

Believe it or not, it is possible for you to break your heel. It takes quite a bit of force to break this bone, though; most of the times, your heel is fractured after a long fall or a motor vehicle accent.

Just broke mine yow days ago wakeboarding. Not jumping either. Caught an edge and it pulled the board up while body weight pushed it down. Doctor says the achilles tendon won the battle. I don't care who won, the pain is incredible. Arggghhhhh!  add a comment

Yes, it is possible to break your heal. This break is called a calcaneal fracture. This type of fracture often occurs when a person falls from a height.

Yes, it certainly is. Your heel bone is called the calcaneous bone. It has sort of a rectangular shape so it would probably chip or crack. A complete break is unlikely compared to long bones like your femur, radius or ulna.

most deffinately! pushbike skided out under me a month ago, foot DID NOT steady me, left calcaneous DID split in two. Surgery 4 days later left me with a stainless steel birds nest around my outer heel, 3 months unpaid, worried by scary stories but better at hopping. One to avoid x
