You are not required to neuter male guinea pigs if you plan to pair him with another male. The two males may fight at first, but they will eventually figure out who is "top dog. " If you plan to keep your cavy with a female, you must neuter the male unless you want dozens of additional guinea pigs.

As long as you either get any female counterparts fixed or keep them away from said females, you should not have any problem with unwanted litters. The only other problem would be that just as with any other animal, during their "heat" an unfixed guinea pig may become overly hostile.

Only if he isn't around any females (otherwise you will end up with 3-7 babies and many problems. 20% of ALL cavy pregnancies are fatal to the mother, and babies often die, too. ) Some people also prefer to neuter as this reduces the risk of impaction problems later.
