Dogs might lick dusty surfaces that smell of food. Dogs do not seek out dust to eat. Do not allow your dog the opportunity. Keep his environment dust-free.

it is harmless in small amounts. dogs eat stuff outside off the ground and some even eat their own fecal matter in moderation it is fine. dogs have a very strong digestive system so it wont bother them. try leading the dog away from the dusty area or scold the animal when it eats it

When you find your dog eating strange things it usually means they are lacking vitamins or minerals in their food. Getting a good quality food is important, dogs should have a chicken based diet because they can be allergic to lamb and beef. If the problem persists after you change your food I would ask your vet for more advice.

Breathing dust into the lungs is never a good thing for a human or a dog. The fact that your dog is randomly eating dust could indicate some kind of problem or deficiency of some sort. I would at at least call your Vet's office and ask what may be wrong with your dog.
