This is where past experience is you best indication. If you have been late in the past and had normal or light periods then this is a normal occurrence. If this is the first time this has occurred, take a pregnancy test. With pregnancy there is occassionally light spotting that can be mistaken for a period.

A very light period can be implantation spotting in stead of an actual period. If you did not experience full flow and full symptoms of your menstrual cycle you may consider testing with first morning urine to determine if you are pregnant or not. A lighter than normal menstrual period is often considered to be a baby implanting.

What you have experienced may have been breakthrough bleeding or spotting. As the egg burrows into your uterus it is common for it to kick up a little blood.

This could be a late period or could signify pregnancy. Some women get implantation bleeding shortly after the embryo has implanted in the uterus. This could show up as light spotting or a light period. Take a pregnancy test; by now the results should be valid. If it is negative, you likely just had a late, light period.

It is not unusual to have a light to moderate period even if one is pregnant. Usually this only happens the first two or three months, but some women have light periods throughout the pregnancy.
