It is pretty normal. Most likely it is just due to teething or discomfort at night, or possibly a growth spurt and they are hungry at night.

It is very normal for babies to go through changes in his or her sleep cycle. They could be getting in one year molars which is causing them to wake.

It's common for an infant to switch sleep cycles. However at that age he should have a set sleeping pattern and not change it much.

This could be just a phase. At this age, children will go through many changes and from time to time it may affect their sleep patterns.

Go back and re-examine what else in the baby's life might have changed recently. This might tell you why the baby is suddenly not on t he same sleeping schedule.
