Different states have different laws pertaining to keeping wild animals. Remember, a small alligator will grow into a large one and you will have the problem of what to do with it. Your best bet would be to call maybe the humane society and ask if there are special laws concerning keeping alligators in your area.

It really depends on the state you live in. You would need to check with your state's rules about exotic pets, and you may need a permit that proves you have experience handling such pets. The basic problem with small alligators is that they become big alligators, so, if legal, you will still need proof you can handle raising one.

It depends on where you are located. It is legal to have a pet alligator in some states such as in Pennsylvania. Contact local wildlife authorities to determine if you're state/region allows pet alligators. Often, if you can legally own an alligator, you must have a permit and registration for the animal.
