If I'm pretty good with mechanics, could I do it myself?

It can a little involved. You have to pull the instrument panel out to remove the gauge from it. You may have to remove some of the dash.

No it is not hard, it's just kind of annoying to have to take the entire dash out just to get to the temperature guage. But once you get there it should be easy to fix.
