Is it difficult to replace a catalytic converter?

Unless you are a novice mechanic, a catalytic converter cane be a very difficult item to replace. Most of the time the U bolts used to exhaust components and catalytic converter are fused together by heat and corrosion, so the bolts have to be removed with a torch.

No it is not difficult to replace a cat. They simply bolt into the exhaust piping under the vehicle. It is a simple plug and play procedure that would take a max of ten minutes to complete.

With the right tools I would say it is pretty easy. Basically you cut the old one off with a saws-all or similar cutting tool and the weld in the new one. It could also be installed with clamps if the tubing is flared properly.
