Question by  lucypuke (28)

Is it better to get acrylic or gel-tipped nails?

I heard acrylics are a pain to manage.

It is all in your preference, both look really nice, and can easily be maintained. Gel tipped are more sturdy I have found for someone who does not pamper their hands I would recommend them as opposed to acrylic, acrylic tend to break more easily. I like the french manicure myself.

Gel nails are more expensive but well worth it. They are natural looking, do not lift and will let nails grow out naturally underneath them.

Not so much actually, they are fairly easy to maintain and last a while. You don't need to have them filled for at least a month, well in my case anyway. They last a lot longer than natural nails since they are so much stronger so it is easy to manage them well.

I prefer acrylic nails to gel-tipped. Yes, they can sometimes be painful if you don't keep them up properly. They are hard to get off unless you have them taken off by a professional. I find that they do stay on better. I rarely ever have on break or fall off and they are beautiful.

Acrylic nails are indeed a pain to manage and moreover it does not look as good as gel-tipped nails. The lovely, luscious look of the gel-tipped nails are any time better than the artificial, dry look of the acrylic nails, any day, any time and any place.

It is generally found that gel-tipped nails last longer. Me personally, I get acrlyic and its just as easily managed as gel-tipped nails. Exception being, acrylic is less pricey.

It is less damaging to use gel tipped nails. There is less damage to your real nails. As far as quality of nails the acrylic would be the best choice.

Gel tips leave less damage to nails, as they are applied with a softer base. Both types need to be maintained equally. Gels are generally more expensive.

Acrylic dry faster and you have to even them out more. if you can put it on nicely then they gave out a more solid color nails. gel-tipped might be easier to be done. but they can damage your nails in the long run.

The only downside to acrylic is that you have to get them refilled every so often. Normally once a month due to your nails growing out. However you have to do this with any type of fake nail. Acrylic nails are alot stronger than gel-tipped.
