Hollander is a generic last name meaning "from the low countries" (ie the netherlands). The netherlands were known for religious toleration so it could be a jewish name.

Hollander can be a Jewish last name, but can also go back to roots from German, Scottish, English, Dutch, and Danish. It is most commonly linked to the regional name of those coming from the country of Holland, but some of the previously mentioned countries had or have towns or areas also called Holland.
