Is fruit salad an element, compound, or mixture?

Fruit salad would be a mixture. Strawberries, on their own, would be the "element." Put them in a blender with bananas and yogurt, whirl up a smoothie, and you have a compound...the parts of which you can't separate. However, in a salad, with grapes, melon and kiwi, you can tell what's what, so it's a mixture.

Fruit salad is a mixture. An element contains only one type of atom, such as iron. A compound is a specific chemical compound, such as table salt.
