Question by  squiffy (130)

Is combing your hair too much bad for you?

Or does it keep it healthier?

Our hair is very fragile, think of it as a second skin that you wouldn't scrub too much. Use a wide-toothed comb and keep it properly conditioned. Hair that is combed or brushed too much can become dry, brittle and unhealthy.

Combing your hair too much can lead to the weakening of the hair strand and cause breakage. You may also experience more grease throughout your hair because the comb will move oil from your roots down to the ends. Only comb wet hair with a comb, and dry hair with a brush.

Combing your hair a lot shouldn't cause any harm as long as snarls or mats are gently worked out. Just tearing through hair mats can and will cause split ends and if big enough even bald spots. Combing your hair really wouldn't stimulate your scalp all that much to add to hair health.
