Is Blue from Blue's Clues a boy or a girl?

Blue is intentionally ambiguous in its gender. That way everyone can possibly relate to the character, without parents and show writers having to deal with gender identity and stereotype issues. It broadens the appeal and makes things simpler for everyone, though the use of the color blue does make you wonder.

I read on the nick jr. website that blue was a girl. They creators said that they wanted the animated character to be the opposite sex of the live character. and that they consciously went against the color stereotype..... In my opinion that just makes everything more confusing :/ add a comment

Blue is a girl. I have been watching Blues Clues for years with my three children and one many of there episode both Steve and Joe have referred to Blue as "She" and "Girl". The first time I realized that I was confused because Blue looks like a boy character but Blue is indeed a girl.

I agree with Momofthree. Blue is indeed a girl. In addition, magenta is also a boy! I guess the writers were trying to show that color does not define the gender of someone, and that you don't have to fall into a certain sterotype. add a comment

Blue the dog from the show Blue's Clues on Nick Jr is a boy dog. Later a female dog was introduced to the show that goes by the name Magenta, also introduced to the show is a cat whose name is Periwinkle that is also a male character on the show.

On the Show "Blue's Clues", The Character Blue is indeed a girl. When blue discovers that she had room where she could talk and interact with her toys, there is an episode where she puts on a princess outfit. girl! and Magenta is a BOY!!!

I have seen Blue from Blue's Clues as i noticed he is a boy, he is fun with Steve and all their friends,shovel,pail,mail he has also friends from pictures that makes the viewer interesting,he can go with Steve inside the pictures,what attracts the most,where Blue hides his clues and children respond to it.

Blue is a girl. Magenta is a girl. I presume that Steve and Joe are both male. The show is a cartoon, not the bachlor.
