Is an ALT (SGPT) level of 59 considered high?

SGPT above 40 units/litre is considered as high. It may indicate improper liver function, viral hepatitis, bile duct problem, congestive heart failure, myopathy.

A 59 for this test is considered borderline. 60 is where some labs top out, anything higher is considered high. Watch if this number should creep up.

It is within the normal range of ALT which is 6-59. Higher levels are indicative of a health disorder involving the liver and will need further follow-up with your primary care physician.

on my blood work 65 is the cut off point but cardio doc said nothing to wrry about
