If you pay your own way on a mission for yourself and/or your spouse it is tax deductible. You must have your receipts for proof. If your church pays for the tickets and you pay the church back, you can still claim the deduction with proof of your payment.

A short term mission trip is deductible. You can deduct air fair and the cost of your registration to participate. Be sure to keep receipts of any out of pocket expenses. Make sure you have not been reimbursed by the organization heading the trip.
