Is a mini piano good for a child who wants to take lessons?

A clerk at the store told me I need full-sized keys. Why?

You're be better off finding a keyboard that is weighted like piano keys. The size and weight of the keys makes a huge difference for learning and playing REAL piano.

A toy piano is only really good as a toy or for special effect, sometimes. Depending on how young the child is, they may not be able to play a full-size keyboard, but at least try a 56 key keyboard which you can get at most electronics and music stores.
