50 Cent is his stage name. His real name is Curtis James Jackson III. He was born in 1975 in South Jamaica, Queens, and started working as a drug dealer at age 12. He left drug dealing to start a rap career. In year 2000, he was in a shooting incident in which he was shot nine times.

"50 cent" is not a real name. The name has been used by two people. The American Gangsta-Rapper's real name is Curtis James Jackson III. He was born on the 6th of July 1975 in Queens, New York City. The name was used before by a real gangster, called Kelvin Martin in the '80s.
