Anything with business and management lessons would be ideal. You'll need to know how to control inventory, how to select and motivate employees, and create realistic financial expectations. don't forget to work in a kitchen for a while to get real-world experience!

Since a restaurant is a business, a business degree is essential. Extra coursework in small businesses, employment law/human resources, and accounting will be helpful.

You can get a bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in the hospitality industry. You could get an associates degree in business and a second in food science or marketing to complement each other.

You should have a degree in hospitality, which has a food service portion or some colleges have a seperate food service degree. Also a minor in small business would be good.
