Ofcourse, it is time consuming. Though to save the life of your tooth, this treatment is to be undertaken. This procedure is to remove the nervous elements of the tooth which have been decayed due to microbial action or any other physical pressures.
The number one pro is that a Root Canal is the only way to save your tooth in most cases. The major con is that it can be painful. It's worth the pain though. Dentists don't do them unless you need it.
Pros- Save your tooth, no bone support loss so if rct fails the condition for a dental implant is a lot better, 90-95% success rate. Cons- Expensive, ideally will still require a crown 6 months after as the tooth is dead and will become brittle, not 100% success rate, long appointments and 2 or 3 visits to complete one tooth.
