If I've broken my fibula, how long will it take before I'll be walking properly again?

Usually it will take at least six to twelve weeks before your leg is healed and you can start walking properly again. If you had to have surgery when you broke your fibula in your leg then of course it will take longer for your leg to heal and you be able to walk.

Fractured fibula does not require any treatment. If there are many fragments of fibula, orthopedic surgeon may remove it completely. You can stand, walk, run or climb stairs even without your fibula. There is no treatment for fibula fracture. Let nature heal it. You can resume duties when pain subsides.

It depends on age and activity level before the brake for an accurate answer, but generally, it may take anywhere from two to six months and more with physical therapy.

The tibia and fibula are two bones in the lower leg. The fibula is smaller than the tibia and it is the non-weight bearing bone. Healing time varies depending on how severe the break is. Average healing time for a fracture or break is about 6 weeks.
