If I cut my finger a week ago and now the skin around the cut is white could I have an infection?

My injury was over a week ago, it appeared to be healing but now is turning white and looks really bad.

The most important thing that you should do is to wash your hand regulary because bacterias that come into the wound can cause infections. Your skin is white because had got an infection and the body had managed to clean it up, the wihte rest that remains is a pus.

If it is tender to the touch, has bright red areas around it, or is seeping fluid, it is likely infected. You should seek professional medical treatment.

Either it's trapped moisture from keeping a bandage on it, or it's the dead skin from around the cut. This is perfectly normal -- Just remember to keep it clean.

If your finger looks red and irritated, or is leaking pus, or a white fluid, then it is quite possible that you have an small infection. The best think to do is make an appointment with your primary care physician to get it evaluated and possibly treated with an antibiotic.

It could be. If your finger turns red or has a white discharge, then it is definitely infected. Keep the are clean and apply a bandaid to it.

It may very well be infected the other thing that may have happened is if you are keeping ointment on it and keeping it covered it may be turning white due to lack of air. But you need to see a doctor to be sure and they will be able to tell you right away.

Infections of the finger always are red, warm, swollen and tender to touch. What may be happening is the skin sloughing around the cut.

no it is not an infection if you put a bandaid on it that is the problem because when a bandaid is wrapped around your skin it keeps all the moisture inside thats why normall yyour cut is wet after you take off your bandaid. if that helped please reply
