I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy and am diabetic. Do you know of a natural alternative to Prednisone that will not affect my blood sugar?

So far there is no other alternative to predinisolone. The course of steroid only show to shortened the duration of Bell's palsy if given early.

There is a Chinese formula- can't remember the ingredients, but I ordered it as Phytocort when I finally found it.  add a comment

there is no alternative because you need a steroid and all steroids will raise your blood sugar. I suggest you keep a close eye on your sugar.

That's not true. A Chinese blend of herbs mimicked the effects of Prednisone: lingzhi mushroom extract (also known as reishi mushroom extract), sophora root extract(also known as kushen), chinese licorice root extract (also known as gan cao). Can't find anywhere, but can be bought as Phytocort with Noni fruit added.  add a comment

There is currently no alternative to Prednisone. This medication is an important part of treating Bells Palsy and need to be taken. The best thing you can do is consult with your doctor. They may recommend some different treatments for blood sugar or a higher dose of insulin. If nothing else they can help you monitor it closely.

Based on my experience that is no other alternatives for prednisolone. Study has shown that prednisolone has change the course of Bell's palsy. However, in the past they have try vitamin B12 injection or oral tablets but currently there is no long term data to support its benefit to Bell's palsy.
