I transfered a Western Digital external hard drive from an iMac with OSX to Windows 7 on an HP. Why won't it work?

Possibly because the external-HD is formatted in a way that Windows 7 doesn't naturally read. To check this use the Computer Management tool which is found in Start | All programs | Administrative Tools. Try in Accessories if you can't see it. Once open click Storage|Disk Management in the left explorer panel to see if your disk is visible.

The reason why your Western Digital external hard drive is not working on a Windows 7 platform is because the OSX format is different.

You need to install a driver for the hard drive onto the new operating system. This allows it to recognize the new hardware.
