Question by  Tamra (2)

I am female, healthy, 46 years old. My LDL is 157, my HDL is 67 and triglycerides 81. Do I need medication?

Total cholesterol is 360. Chol/hdlc ratio is 3.6, so am I at risk without medication?

This is a matter for discussion between you and your physician. Do not seek medical advice from anonymous lay people. You and your doctor can discuss the best plan for you with consideration to all factors. This is why test results should no be released directly to patients.

Yes, you are at risk, a statin drug would definitely be called for to lower your cholesterol levels. In addition, exercise and a low cholesterol diet will be beneficial also.

This isn't a good place to get medical advice. Patients cannot interpret lab test results and shouldn't have them until the doctor explains. Discuss your concerns with your physician.
