I am 19 and would like join the police. I had my last asthma attack when I was 11. Now I'm scared it's coming back, and I don't want it to effect me from getting in the police. What advice can you give me?

You should see a doctor. If you are able to take a daily maintenance inhaler to control your asthma, it may not be an issue.

The best advice I can give you is call the department and ask them if your condition is a concern for them. Then go to your Dr and have a complete physical.

Just go to your family physician and get you an updated physical. Tell your doctor your concern and see if there are preventative things that you can do to help with your asthma. Maybe your just nervous and that is why you feel like it is coming back. It is probably not.

You should seek medical attention as soon as possible to make sure your asthma is in control. Many police forces will allow asthmatics on the force as long as their condition is under control. You will need a doctor's proof, hiding this will most likely lead to your dismissal if it is discovered later.
