Malaise is a noun that refers to a general sense of uncomfortableness or unease. As in, "Elizabeth felt a sudden sense of malaise upon entering the house. " Malaise can also be used to refer to the feeling a person gets at the onset of an illness or figuratively in regards to the state of the economy.

The word "malaise" roughly means uneasiness, a sort of "sick" feeling. Here's an example of a sentence that uses it: "When Katherine woke up, she felt malaise and dizziness that would not go away. "
