Keep them thin and the same amount of space between them. They often look better if you do low lights and highlights together.

Make sure to just section out the crown of your hair and apply foils in a circular direction as if you a making a halo on your head make sure they lay flat to avoid bleeding around the curves of your head. if you are using a cap only thread out the crown area.

I would suggest to use a cap to highlight your crown. It is easier than trying to place foils in certain areas on your own head. Plus the cap won't slip, like foils do.

Most highlighting kits come with a hood with a number of holes in them. You pull small locks through the holes, and those get highlighted while the rest doesn't. To do just the crown, only pull hair through the holes in that area of the hood.

Seperate layers of hair by weaving through them using pointed comb. Apply hair bleach to every other strand and fold into foil. Allow to sit until desired color is reached.
