How to add car stereo equipment to your insurance?

I have added a very expensive car stereo system to my car and would like to make sure that if it is stolen it will be covered by insurance.

Tell your insurance agent you want to add on to your policy. Then take a picture of the stereo installed and give it to him with a copy of the bill of sale so he can add it on,

First get the receipt of the system. Call the insurance agent and find out if you can list the system as a seperate item. You will need to decide what coverage you want on the system. Theft, fire, damaged by collision. This might be costly, but if its expensive then its worth it.

Contact your insurer and discuss the specifics of your audio additions. More than likely, a rider or endorsement can be added to your policy, at an extra expense, to cover these items in the case of theft. If an endorsement cannot be added by your auto insurer, contact a personal lines insurer for a floater or personal articles policy.
