How tall should a silk flower centerpiece be?

I want to encourage conversation at a dinner party.

The centerpiece should not be so tall that people can not see each other from across the table. The centerpiece could be about a foot tall.

The centerpiece can be 2 to 3 feet tall. The taller the centerpiece the more of a conversation starter it will be but 3 feet is a good height that will not obstruct peoples view. You can fill a clear glass vase with different colored plastic gems and water for an interesting look.

If it's to stay in place at a dinner then it has to be fairly short. I would place several shorter one's down the center of the table for atmosphere and do them short and wider. Can't use a traditional tall vase so shop around for shorter wider vases at Dollar Tree of craft stores or anywhere.
