A better question is how they should NOT be healing. If they are bleeding or have a yellowish liquid coming from the sockets, this could be a sign of infection. A sign of infection is a rancid smell. The sockets should be healed in a week or two.

After having a tooth extracted by a dentist, it will more or less feel like a hole in your gum for 2-4 weeks. During this time it is important to flush it with water.

After the extractions, your gums will probably have some swelling and be tender. However, after a day or two the swelling should begin to go down and no longer be tender. If there is bleeding or a bad smell, you should contact your dentist.

Extractions usually heal very quickly. If the area is still bleeding or painful after a day or two, you should call your dental professional.

First the blood clots. Then in the next few weeks the hole where the tooth was will start to close and the hole will get smaller. Pretty soon the skin on your gums will be covering the hole entirely.
